The Six Triple Eight is an upcoming historical war drama set during World War II, following the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black, all-women unit in the U.S. Army stationed in Europe. Tasked with an impossible mission, the battalion must sort through a massive backlog of 17 million undelivered mail pieces for American soldiers, completing the task within six months. Based on the 2019 WWII History Magazine article “Fighting A Two-Front War” by Kevin M. Hymel, the film stars Kerry Washington and is written and directed by Tyler Perry. It highlights the bravery, resilience, and perseverance of these pioneering women during a time of war and racial adversity.
